Much admired and widely spoken at Cannes, critically speaking, “A first-class masterpiece … The most perfect work that premiered this year.” The film, which is praised with its words, tells about the love of a painter with a model in the 18th century. Painter Marianne is ordered to have a portrait of a young Héloïse who just left the monastery and is about to get married. However, Marianne must draw this portrait unaware of Héloïse. To avoid this restriction, Marianne observes the reluctant bride-to-be, Héloïse, and then gets closer to her. We know director Céline Sciamma, who was inspired by female painters who were ignored for centuries and whose works were forgotten, with Tomboy, in which she directed, and Kabakçığin Life, which she wrote.
