MÁV Cellists
Richárd Rózsa, Máté Tomasz, Rita Vadász, Krisztina Dávid, Marcell Vámos, Katalin Vámos, Zeynep Deniz Turfal, Gökçe Bahar Duyar, Özcan Ulucan (violin), Lara Akatay (violin), Nihat Mert Samanlıoğlu (violin)
Formed by the cellists of the MÁV Symphony Orchestra, this ensemble first came together five years ago for an orchestra recording project. The collaboration was so successful that they decided to continue as a permanent group. Since then, they have performed widely in Hungary — at TEFESZT and Night of Museums in Budapest, in historic venues such as the castles of Bölcske and Bajna, and at the Tiszafüred Festival.
Their repertoire ranges from classical works to ragtime and film scores. With a full lineup of 12 musicians, they pay tribute to their inspiration, The 12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic.
This year marks the ensemble’s first international concert tour, and we are delighted to host them as part of the International Gümüşlük Music Festival. The group has also released its debut album, “DREAMING”, featuring a curated selection of gems from the cello repertoire.
They will be joined by guest soloist Özcan Ulucan, along with his students Lara Akatay and Nihat Mert Samanlıoğlu.
