Elif Çağlar sings her own songs as well as performing some cover tunes, ranging from soul to reggae, traditional to modern, with her trio of well known jazz musicians of Turkey.
Elif Çağlar studied jazz composition at Istanbul Bilgi University Music Department. In 2006, she became the first Turkish musician to graduate from the “The Aaron Copland School of Music” at Queens College, NY with an award, where she got her Master’s degree in jazz performance and was a student of the living legend Sheila Jordan. She performs in prestigious festivals and clubs in Turkey and abroad regularly. Her widely acclaimed debut “MUSIC” is the first jazz vocal album in Turkey with all original songs in English and the first that is written and arranged by a female jazz vocalist. She won the title “Best Jazz Performer” by Radio Bogazici Music Awards twice. Performing and recording with some of the most important jazz musicians in Turkey, Caglar has released four albums, two of them featuring world famous American and Italian jazz figures. She continues exploring and recording in different styles.
